Nick Cordero Coronavirus
On April 1, 2020 Amanda posted on her Instagram page that Nick was in the ICU and unconscious with what seemed like COVID-19 after he misdiagnosed with pneumonia. She revealed that Nick got two false negative tests for COVID-19 before being diagnosed. The third was positive after they got a sample from his chest cavity.
During an interview with Buzzfeed News Amanda said that when Nick got sickhis symptoms were completely different than what they were expecting from COVID-19. She said that one night in early March he woke up sweaty, chilled and feeling bad. She said that a few days after that he was totally fine.
On March 19, he again started feeling sick and spent the next six days in bed, completely exhausted. She added that Nick didn’t have a fever or a cough, so they assumed it couldn’t be COVID-19.
On March 26 he passed out while trying to change their son’s diaper which led to them seeking medical attention. The doctor didn’t think he had the disease, though, so they sent him home with medication.
Nick got worse over the weekend with heavy breathing and a heavy cough. He was finally taken to the emergency room for new medication. Amanda said they both figured he would be home in a few hours, but he later called her and said his oxygen levels were low and he would be moved to the ICU. After a day in the ICU, Nick called again.
“He said, ‘I love you, they have decided to put me on a ventilator with a breathing tube and I’m gonna go unconscious and I don’t know when I’ll wake up, and I don’t know when I’ll be able to talk to you again.'”
Nick Cordero Amputation
On April 16, 2020 Amanda said that Nick’s right leg will be amputated to fix a blood flow issue. He has been sedated for 18 days and is currently in the ICU at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in California on a ventilator.
“We got some difficult news yesterday. Basically we’ve had issues in his right leg with clotting and getting blood down to his toes and it just isn’t happening with surgery and everything. So they had him on blood thinners for the clotting. Unfortunately, the blood thinners were causing some other issues — blood pressure and some internal bleeding in his intestines. So we took him off the blood thinners. But that again was going to cause some clotting in the right leg, so the right leg will be amputated today.”
Nick Cordero GoFundMe
On April 18, 2020 a GoFundMe page was set to help support Nick and his family as he fights Coronavirus. According to the page he is hooked up to a ventilator, dialysis machine and ecmo while doctors are having trouble getting blood flow to his leg, and even waking him up.
