Braud joined ESPN as a college softball analyst in the spring of 2014, contributing as a color commentator and studio analyst to the network’s coverage of regular and postseason softball. Braud joined host Dari Nowkhah and analyst David Dellucci in the clubhouse to break down each week of the SEC softball and baseball seasons. For the 2019-20 season, she moved from the studio to the booth, adding in-game analysis for SEC regular and postseason games on SEC Network. Kayla began her athletic career as a softball player in high school.
Additionally, she was a member of the Marist High School softball team, where her grandfather was the coach, and she played for the Eugene Thunder for over ten years. Kayla was the first all-state honoree and most valuable player during all four seasons of her high school career, having led the team to Nationals seven times and breaking records almost immediately in her freshman year.
Moreover, in her junior and senior years, she was awarded Oregon 4A Player of the Year, and ESPN Rise ranked her the number one record-breaker. In her first year, Kayla was named SEC Freshman of the Year and was one of the top ten nominees for USA Player of the Year. She also set a new Alabama single-season batting average of 0.505, which was also the third-best in the country.
