Brian Patrick Flynn Designer

Flynn is an interior designer but he did not attend a design school but instead a film school and has a background in set design and styling for film and television.

He said he never thought of residential interior design until he was so broke from tuition costs that he started taking discarded furniture from the roadside and transforming the junk into ‘vibrant and fun one-of-a-kind pieces’. He ended up getting a job in the art department of a major TV series at the time, where he ended up learning about fabrics, millwork, ADA compliance, building codes, furniture styles and prop styling. “Once I had that job I realized combining interior design with production was my golden ticket. Turns out, it was.”

He revealed that his first job was at 14 years as a grocery bagger at Publix in Tamarac, FL. He used to design the bags himself.

“I designed those bags so hard you cannot even imagine. I would fill the bags like puzzles and utilize every square inch to get as much stuff in as possible, and beautifully as well. I would mix colors and patterns and textures on packaging like no one else.”

At the age of 16, he left the jon to start his own business which was car detailing. ” I went from making about $40 per day to $40 per hour after my dad taught me how to use an orbital buffer and I got super efficient at auto detailing. I learned how to restore color to paint that was faded, and thus began my love affair with transformational jobs and my journey into interior design.”

Brian Patrick Flynn HGTV

Brian has worked as an interior designer for HGTV shows Dream Home and Urban Oasis. He has also been featured as a redesigner on the HGTV series Decorating Cents and as a design producer for Design Star.

Brian Patrick Flynn Magnolia

Flynn is the host of Mind for Design on Magnolia Network. The show follows Flynn and his team through a different renovation project but one of the things that sets this show apart from the others is that, as he says, this is not “a cliffhanger show.”

“Sometimes interior design projects are fun. And sometimes they go well planned and there’s curveballs that come people’s way but there’s really nothing that you would see on Mind for Design that would cause you stress. You should just watch it and you should feel good and when you turn it off you might want to go try using hot pink on your ceiling,” Flynn said in his trademark deadpan style.

I’m hoping that I’m bringing some optimism and no drama to these people’s houses because that’s the way I live my life.”

Brian Patrick Flynn Lighting

Flynn has a lighting collection with Crystorama that is designed to fit a wide range of interior and architectural styles.

“My collection ranges from oversized lanterns in clean and simple finishes to architectural pendants designed for indoor and outdoor use. The overarching style is simplicity, with most of the pieces focusing on shape and scale more than pattern or intricate details.”

Brian Patrick Flynn Net worth

He has an estimated net worth of $5 million.
