Anna Viktorovna Petrakova-Parker is a retired Russian professional basketball player and the wife of WNBA Star Candace Parker. She is a four-time champion of Russian, winner of the EuroLeague, and three-time Russian Basketball Cup and FIBA Europe SuperCup winner. She retired as a player after the 2016/2017 season and joined the Russian national team coaching staff.

Anna Petrakova Candace Parker; Anna has been married to her wife Candace Parker since December 2019. The couple kept their relationship under wraps due to Russia’s anti-LGBTQ+ policies. Parker announced their relationship in 2021, 2 years after their marriage, in an Instagram post as they felt the timing was right as they were expecting their first child together.
Parker on her side added that she wanted to send a strong message to her daughter Lailaa as she always encourages her to be proud of herself and speak up for herself and those she loves.
“I always tell my daughter to be herself. I always tell my daughter to be proud of who she is. And I always tell my daughter to speak for herself and speak up for those that she loves. And I can’t say that to her if I’m not doing it myself. I don’t want her to ever think that I’m ashamed or not proud of our family. That was a step that we had to take. But we had to take it on our own terms.”
How Did Candace Parker meet Anna Petrakova
Anna and Candace met in Russia. Anna joined UMMC Ekaterinburg in 2012, which was when her friendship with Parker blossomed. They would stay up late and talk. “There were some drunken nights and it would just go further than we would think.” They kissed one of those evenings and were both scared at first but they realized they were lying to themselves.
“We’re scared, and we’re like, ‘what the hell was that?’ You are kind of scared to look each other in the eye and then you’re like, ‘OK, well, what are we? We’re lying to ourselves here’” Anna recalled.
The two didn’t imagine they would be involved with a fellow woman as they previously had been in relationship with men. “We literally denied it to ourselves for three years I think. Then we just finally accepted it. That was a long, hard process.”
Candance proposed to Anna in 2019 during a birthday trip in Mexico. Anna had planned the birthday but on a boat while surrounded by about 15 friends and family, Lailla, Candance daughter held a cake written in icing “Will you marry us?”
