“I’ve been quiet about what’s going on because it’s hard to let you know that I’ve been diagnosed with a condition called Hyperemesis Gravidarum… without giving away the fact that I’m pregnant!! I apologize if my silence was frustrating or disappointing. I really hated not saying something sooner, but I needed to get to a safe place in my pregnancy before I made an official announcement. The best part of all of this, of course, is that I’m pregnant and extremely excited. The baby is progressing just fine and hitting all of HIS milestones. My husband Michael and I can’t wait to meet him at the end of March.?”
She went ahead to explain what Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) is. “Some of you might be wondering: what the heck is Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG)? Well, to put it simply, HG is a severe form of morning sickness that lasts all day. Keeping foods and liquids down is a challenge – even water! I’ve been hospitalized, put on home healthcare, and attached to IV’s and machines just to try and help me stay hydrated. The danger for mom and baby is when there is weight-loss and dehydration, both of which I have experienced. There are plenty of other rough symptoms with HG I won’t get into, but for now I’m happy to be on the mend, off the bathroom floor, and detached from medical machines! Which also brings me to how grateful I feel to have access to health care. I know that not everyone does and I definitely do not take that for granted”
