Geoff Bennett Biography
Geoff Bennett (full names; Geoffrey Robinson Bennett) is PBS NewsHour co-anchor alongside Amna Nawaz as well as an NBC political contributor. He is a former chief Washington correspondent and PBS News Weekend anchor.
He is an Edward R. Murrow Award recipient who began his career in journalism at ABC News’ World News Tonight. He joined NewsHour in 2022 from NBC News, where he was a White House correspondent and substitute anchor for MSNBC. He has worked for NPR- beginning as an editor for Weekend Edition and later as a reporter covering Congress and the White House.

Geoff is the son of Lynnca Robinson Bennett and Gary George Bennett Sr., of Voorhees, N.J. His father was an adjunct professor at Delaware Valley College in Doylestown, Pa., teaching educational leadership, school finance and school personnel administration and is a former superintendent of the Camden County Technical Schools in Sicklerville, N.J. He died in October 2014.
His mother is a former kindergarten teacher at the Cooper’s Poynt Professional Development School in Camden, N.J. He was raised alongside his brother Gary G. Bennett, Jr. and sister Joan Ingalls.

He joined PBS NewsHour in 2022 from NBC News, where he was a White House correspondent and substitute anchor for MSNBC.
As a White House correspondent, he covered the Trump and Biden administrations and earned recognition for his in-depth and exclusive reporting on the delivery delays at the U.S. Postal Service. He also covered the first Trump impeachment inquiry and the migrant family separation policy.
