Tamara started her career in television in 1995 at Channel 10, on the long-running children’s show, Totally Wild, and as a news reporter in Brisbane in 2003. Tamara had previously worked as a factual program researcher and producer in Australia and the United Kingdom.
She came to Melbourne in late 2003 and worked for the ABC’s Asia Pacific News service (now Australia Network) for 18 months as a reporter and presenter of the breakfast news program. She later joined the ABC News Victoria newsroom in 2005 as a reporter for the 7:00 p.m. news bulletin. She’s since filmed in Banda Aceh six months after the tsunami, hosted The Midday Report for two summers, spent 18 months on the Melbourne court circuit, and filed network news reports.
Tamara also produces and co-hosts a weekly podcast about Australian television dramas and the people who make them. Oudyn took over as the weekend host of ABC News Victoria from Kathy Bowlen in February 2008.
She also took over as host of Stateline Victoria in January 2009, replacing Kathy Bowlen, who had departed from the network. Following Ian Henderson’s retirement on October 5, 2018, it was announced that Oudyn would take over as the Sunday to Thursday presenter of ABC News Victoria.
