Stephen Paul Cannane is an Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) news journalist and current affairs, reporter. He works for the ABC’s Investigations Unit as a reporter. He previously was the ABC’s Europe Correspondent in London from 2016 until 2018. He was also a former host of The Drum and a reporter for Lateline.

He began his career as a correspondent for Triple J’s current affairs show, The Morning Show. After Francis Leach departed the station in 2003, Cannane took over as host of the show. He filled in for the regular breakfast host on ABC Radio National while he worked on other projects.
Additionally, Cannane was named the Australian representative on the US Department of State’s Edward R Murrow program for journalists in 2006, and she earned the Excellence in Alcohol and Drug Media Reporting Award[4] at the National Drug and Alcohol Awards.
Along with that, Steve hosted The Hack Half Houron ABC2 in 2008. In 2009, he hosted the ABC1 documentary series Whatever! With news that their President Meryl Dorey had sought access to the child’s medical records as evidence, she had died from a pertussis illness.
His report was the first to expose the lobby group as heartless and nasty. The paper also mentioned a complaint about the AVN that was being investigated by the NSW Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC), which claimed the organization distributed false and harmful vaccination advice.
