Marni Hughes is an American media personality serving as an anchor for WGN America. She co-anchors the weeknight editions of “News Nation” alongside Joe Donlon. She previously worked for KCPQ-TV (Seattle) as the main evening news anchor and newsroom leader and also worked in Minnesota, Utah, Indiana and Ohio.

Together with her team, Hughes was honored with an Emmy for a series of stories highlighting the challenges families face raising kids on the autism spectrum. She was also acknowledged for her reporting on traumatic brain injuries and impacts specific to youth sports safety. Before Seattle, Hughes worked in newsrooms in Minnesota, Utah, Indiana, and Ohio.

She also worked as an evening anchor for the Q13 News team from September 2011 to September 2019 and left the station after serving the residents of Seattle with news for almost 8 years. Hughes said the driving force behind her decision is her family. “Although I love bringing you the news each night, the reality is, I miss a lot at home,” she said. “Telling your stories and being part of this community is one of the great highlights in my career in journalism. It’s been a privilege to sit on this set during the big stories impacting our region.”
