Linda is the CEO of X (formerly known as Twitter). She took over from X owner Elon Musk, who transitioned to executive chair and chief technology officer, in June 2023. She took over with a focus on business operations. This was after Elon musk had ran a poll on Twitter asking users whether he should step back as Twitter’s CEO, which ended with the majority of users voting in the affirmative.
After Elon Musk bought X (Twitter) at $44bn, many big advertisers slashed or cut ad spending altogether in response to his relaxed stance on content moderation, erratic posts and unorthodox leadership style. The New York Times reported that Twitter’s US advertising revenue from the five weeks from April 1 to the first week of May was down 59% year-over-year, citing an internal presentation.
According to data provided to CNN by market intelligence firm Sensor Tower in May, just 43% of Twitter’s top 1,000 advertisers as of September, the month before Musk’s takeover, were still advertising on the platform as of April.
Prior to joining X (Twitter), Yaccarino had appeared on stage with Elon Musk in April for a talk called Twitter 2.0: From Conversations to Partnerships,” which was advertised as an “intimate conversation” about Twitter’s role in culture and its future for marketers.
