Jeff Zucker (Jeffrey Adam Zucker) is an American media executive and former President of CNN Worldwide and Chairman, WarnerMedia News and Sports. He resigned from CNN on February 2, 2020 after revealing he failed to disclose a romantic relationship with a top-ranking colleague.

Jeff began his career at NBC Universal where he worked for more than two decades. He rose through the ranks to become the company’s president and CEO from 2007 to 2011.

He joined NBC Sports, after graduating from Harvard in 1986, as a researcher. He traveled compiling and writing background information used by NBC Sports commentators and producers, prior to and during the network’s coverage of major sporting events.

He admitted he had talked with Jason Kilar, chief executive of CNN parent WarnerMedia, about leaving early in 2021. He also discussed the possibility with his staff, leading many of his deputies and friends to predict his departure after President Biden’s inauguration, and ahead of any drop in cable news ratings that many media experts predicted once President Trump exited the White House.

On February 2, 2022 Jeff announced he was resigning from CNN after failing to disclose a consensual relationship with a colleague as part of the investigation into Chris Cuomo’s tenure, for improperly advising his brother, then-New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, about how to address sexual misconduct allegations.

Jeff is in a relationship with Allison Gollust, CNN’s executive vice president and chief marketing officer. The two began working together at NBC in 1998. The two rose through ranks together and when Jeff moved to CNN, Allison was among his first hires. She had also worked briefly as communications director for Andrew Cuomo.

After Jeff announced his resignation Allison released a statement on her of her own where she said that her relationship with Jeff had been close friends and professional partners for over 20 years but she added the relationship changed during COVID. She said she regretted that they didn’t disclose the relationship at the right time.

Several former CNN employees have suggested that Zucker and Allison have been in a consensual relationship for some time.

Soledad O’Brien, a former CNN anchor, tweeted to Gollust’s statement, “I encourage you to google the two parties and read the details about their relationship that dates back years. That said, I’m sure company emails can easily determine if she’s lying in this statement. Again—It was an open secret and I haven’t even worked there for like 8 years.”

Roland Martin, former CNN correspondent tweeted, “It was an open secret at @CNN that Jeff Zucker and Allison Gollust, who he hired as head of communications, were having an affair.was only there with them for four months in 2013 and knew. NBC folks knew when they worked together there. @katiecouric intimated that in her book!”
