Gary and Franky a Swiss au-pair girl whose birth name is Françoise Riedo celebrated their wedding on July 13, 1968. The two had met three years prior, in 1965 in Circa Resort & Casino, a casino and hotel resort in downtown Las Vegas, Nevada, on the Fremont Street Experience.

At the time of their wedding, Gary was 23 while Franky was 22. The wedding was a tradition themed and was held at St David’s Church, Eastwood, Southend-on-Sea. Their wedding was grand enough to make it to the tabloids. Franky wore a white bridal gown and flowing veil were in the best of traditional style. At the wedding, Gary sang, ‘A Whiter Shade of Pale’, the group’s best-selling record which Gary helped to write in 1967.

The couple was married for 54 years and had no children.

Franky Booker Death & Cause

Brooker passed away from cancer at his home on 19 February 2022, at the age of 76 in London, England. Martin Knight wrote in a Tweet confirming his death, ” R. I. P. Gary Brooker who has skipped the light fandango.” He went on to write, ” Procol Harum’s A Whiter Shade Of Pale wrong-footed the pop music-loving public with its dreamy, powerful eccentricity & it took the Beatles with All You Need Is Love to dislodge them from No. 1 in the 1967 summer of love.”

Richard Lewis, in a tribute passed his condoled with Gary’s wife, Franky. He went to state that he was in
love with Procol Harum from the moment he heard them, “Gary was a genius and along with miraculous lyricist, Keith Reid, their work is heavenly. Their friendship was a dream for me.”

On 14 June 2003, Brooker was appointed as a Member of the Order of the British Empire in the Queen’s Birthday Honours in recognition of his charitable services.
