Elliot Page: Age, Personal life, LGBT activism, Family, Net Worth

Elliot Page is a Canadian-born actor and producer who has received much critical acclaim, not least for his support for the transgender community.

 Age

Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on February 21, 1987, Page is aged 34. He came to prominence for his earliest role on TV, Pit Pony, a CBC series from 1999, set in Cape Breton in his home province, and which told the story of the intertwining lives of local coal miners. For this, he was nominated for the prestigious Young Artist Award.

 Personal life

Page was assigned female at birth, at which point he was known as Ellen. He married professional dancer and choreographer Emma Porter in 2008, and they were divorced in 2021. He first came out as a gay woman in 2014, then transgender in December 2020. Page is the first openly trans man to have appeared on the illustrious cover of Time magazine.

Page’s LGBT activism encouraging trans people

Anyone inspired to embrace a sense of their true gender identity by Page’s commendably forthright approach will also be encouraged by the degree of options available to trans people. Where the digital dating community is concerned, the early 21st-century is defined by inclusivity, with increasing numbers of transgender date sites welcoming new members with open arms. These sites represent the ideal platform for like-minded individuals wishing to take pride in their true spirit. Like LGBT sites in general, these trans outlets are so much more than dating outlets giving access to the profiles of other members seeking relationships. They are vibrant communities, where people of every shade can touch base, look for support, and generally feel accepted and valued.

The star of Juno, as well as the Netflix series The Umbrella Academy, came out as transgender in December last year, and this announcement was greeted with widespread rapture on Twitter and Instagram. Page took the opportunity to announce his status, and that his pronouns are ‘He’ and ‘They,’ adding that he felt very lucky “to have arrived at this place in my life. I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more that I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive.”

Being such a vocal spokesman for the trans-community has been extremely important in helping to reduce what is still a highly stigmatized subject. Although he initially came out as gay in 2014, he has since added that the discomfort he felt in his body did not go away. He has since become known as one of the most visible and widely known trans-masculine people in the world. He has struck a particular chord with the LGBTQ community who have long fought for the same rights as their straight counterparts.

 Family

Page’s family background is that his father, Dennis, is a graphic designer, and his mother, Martha, is a teacher.

Performing accolades

Page has received plaudits for much of his work, including the titular character, a pregnant teenager in Juno (2007), the psychological drama The Tracey Fragments (2007), the sports comedy Whip It (2009), the science fiction movie Inception (2010), co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio, and more recently, from the X-Men franchise, The Last Stand (2006) and Days of Future Past (2014). He has won Teen Choice Awards, and nominations for two British Academy Film Wards, an Academy Award, and a Golden Globe.

 Net Worth

Page’s net worth, as of 2020, was estimated at $12 million.
