Tracy is a chef who joined began his career as a waiter at a local American restaurant, Cafe Deluxe in 1995. This was way before he joined the culinary school. In 2000, after graduating from culinary school, he opened his own restaurant called Chef Geoff’s in Washington D.C. In 2002 he opened a second version of Chef Geoff’s in the D.C. downtown area. In 2006 he opened the third restaurant in Maryland, called LIA’s. In 2008, he opened another Maryland restaurant called Hank’s Tavern. In 2018 Geoff formed a joint venture and added two more restaurant concepts, Café Deluxe and Tortilla Coast.
He was awarded “Chef of the Year Award” in 2009 by the Albert Uster. In 2012, the readers of Washingtonian Magazine selected Geoff as “Best Local Chef”.

In 2018, Chef Geoff’s merged with Clover Restaurant Group, which operates four locations of Cafe Deluxe plus Tortilla Coast on Capitol Hill, to become Chef Geoff’s Deluxe Hospitality.
Clover Restaurant Group co-owner Brian Sullivan had approached Geoff a few years back about the merger and Geoff turned it down at the time as he said the timing wasn’t right. They restarted the conversation in 2017 and finalized the deal in April 2018.
The venture is a 50-50 split; Tracy and his brother Chris own half of the company, and Clover Restaurant Group’s Sullivan and his father Jim own the other half.

Geoff is the owner of Chef Geoff’s in Washington D.C. and in the D.C. downtown area, LIA’S in Chevy Chase, MD and Chef Geoff’s Deluxe Hospitality. Tracy has been involved in high-profile political campaigns. In 2006 he led a campaign to repeal the DC Candle Tax. In 2012 he initiated a highly publicized movement against speed cameras.
He sued the Commonwealth of Virginia in 2018 over the constitutionality of regulations that limited his free speech in paid advertising. The suit led to legislation abolishing those regulations starting in 2019.
